Support Pillars Assemblies

SoftMold Solids support pillar function allows you to create complete pillar assemblies. A complete assembly concise of the support pillar, the mounting bolt, the hole for the bolt and the clearance holes in the ejector plates.

Setting up the Positions
Before you attempt to create a complete support pillar assemblies you need to layout where to place the pillars. Doing this before you enter the pillar function will avoid allot of problems later. To the right is an ejector housing with four points layed out on it. We will use this example two create 2 different size pillar assembleys.

Defining the Plates
In order to create the proper holes in the mold plates, these plates must be defined prior to creating the support pillars. You will use the menu shown below to define the plates. You can define each plate one at a time or you can define them all at once. The plate must be visible or made visible in order to use this menu. For an explaintion of each menu button place your mouse cursor on the menu button.

Constructions Planes
Pillars are created in the Z positive direction relative to the currently active construction plane. The pillar assemblies can only be created in the the construction plane that was active when you defined the plates. If you change the construction plane after you have defined the plates the pillar assembly function will be turned off.
