Standard Ejector Sleeves

The Dialog Window shown below is used to create standard ejector sleeves. SoftMold allows you to create standard sleeves in any construction plane. For additional information about construction planes click the following link. construction plane.  The insertion position of the ejector sleeve is on the center line at the bottom of the sleeve. The sleeve is drawn in the Z positive direction relative to the current construction plane.

Creating a Sleeve
To Create a Standard Sleeve follow the steps listed below.

Select the Units
Use the unit control to select inch units or millimeter units. SoftMold allows you to create inch based components in a millimeter base drawing or millimeter components in an inch based drawing. The first time you used this function in any session the unit value of the active document is retrieved and the function is setup based on the active documents units. If you return to the function latter in the session the function is setup based on the last values you selected. The function remembers where you where.

Select a Supplier
Click the Suppler List Control and select one of the suppliers listed there. When you select a supplier the other controls are loaded with the appropriate values.

Sleeve Type
Select the type of sleeve you wish to create via the Sleeve Type list control. When you make a selection in this control the remaining controls are loaded with the appropriate values.

Selecting the Ejector Sleeve
You may select the size of the sleeve to create by one of three methods
Method 1
Use the Catalog Number control to select the sleeve. When you make a selection in this control the remaining controls are set to the proper values.
Method 2
Enter the Outside Diameter of the sleeve you want via the Sleeve OD control, this sets the other controls to the correct values.
Method 3
Enter the Inside Diameter of the sleeve you want via the Sleeve ID control, this sets the other controls to the correct values.

Selecting the Sleeve Length
Use the Sleeve Length control to select the length of the sleeve.

Select the drawing style
Use the drawing style check box controls and select your drawing style. For details about the available drawing styles for Standard Sleeves see Standard Sleeve Drawing Styles.  At this point you have completed selecting a standard sleeve and the drawing style to use.

Pressing the 'OK' Button
When you press the 'OK" button the dialog window will close and Keycreator's position menu ( shown below ) will appear. Use the position menu' to select where to create the ejector sleeve. Each time you select a position a sleeve will be created at that position. Pressing the ESC key will end the creation routine and return you to Keycreator.

Standard Ejector Sleeve Drawing Options


The check boxes that appear ot he left are on the Standard Ejector Sleeve Dialog Window. If the check box is turned on ( i.e. checked state ) the corresponding detail will be created. You may change the size of the fillet by changing the values in the edit boxes or accept the default values. Making these values to large may cause errors during the creation process.
The blue ejector sleeve was created with the Shank Fillet, Head Fillet and Hole Chamfer options turned off. The green sleeve has these options turned on.
