Standard Shoulder Bushings
The Dialog Window shown below is used to create Standard Shoulder Bushings.
SoftMold allows you to create Standard Shoulder Bushings in any construction plane.
The insertion position of the bushing is on the center line at the bottom of the head.
The bushing is drawn in the Z positive direction relative to the current construction plane.
To Create Standard Shoulder Bushing follow the steps listed below.
Select the Units
Use the unit control to select inch units or millimeter units.
SoftMold allows you to create inch based components in a millimeter base
drawing or millimeter components in an inch based drawing. The first time
you used this function in any session the unit value of the active document
is retrieved and the function is setup based on the active documents units.
If you return to the function latter in the session the function is setup based
on the last values you selected. The function remembers where you where.
Suppler List Control
Use this control to select one of the suppliers listed there. When you select
a supplier the other controls are loaded with the appropriate values.
Select the bushing type
Use the bushing type control to select the type of bushing to create.
Most suppliers offer these bushings in three styles, plain steel bushings,
bronze plated bushings and self lube bushings. The geometry of these bushings
is the same. The real difference is the catalog number, This will come into play
when the Bill of Material function is added.
Selecting a Bushing
You may select a bushing by one of two methods.
Method 1
If you happen to know the Catalog Number you can select it using the Catalog Number control.
When you select an item all of the other controls and data display are set to the appropriate values.
Method 2
Select the Nominal Diameter of the bushing. When you make a selection the Bushing Length control is
filled with the available lengths for the selected size.
Select the length of the bushing from the Bushing Length control.
When you select an item all of the other controls and data display are set to the appropriate values.
Select the drawing style
Use the drawing style list control and select one of the available drawing styles. For details about

Pressing the 'OK' Button
At this point you have completed selecting a pin and the drawing style to use when
creating the Shoulder Bushing. When you press the 'OK" button the dialog window will
close and Keycreator's 'Position Menu' ( shown below ) will appear. Use the position menu
to select where to create the shoulder bushings. Each time you select a position a bushing
will be created at that position. Pressing the ESC key will end the creation routine
and return you to Keycreator.
Standard Shoulder Bushing Drawing Styles
Below is a listing of the different drawing styles that are available.
Each of the different styles is explained below.
Simple Style
The bushing shown to the left is drawn in the simple style.
There are no cosmetic fillets and the bushing is drawn
at the nominal sizes.
Detailed Style
The bushing shown to the left is drawn in the Detailed style.
There are cosmetic fillets on the end and head of the bushing.
The bushing is created at the nominal size.
Complex Style
The bushing shown to the left appears the same as the bushing drawn in the Detailed Style
however this bushing is created using the actual bushing sizes ( 1 inch
bushing is created at 1.001 ).
