Standard Straight Bushings
The dialog window shown below is used to create straight bushings.
SoftMold allows you to create straight bushings in any construction plane.
The insertion position of the bushing is on the center line at the bottom of the bushing.
The bushing is drawn in the Z positive direction relative to the current construction plane.
For additional information about construction planes
see this link.
To Create Straight Bushing follow the Steps listed below.
Select the Units
Use the unit control to select inch units or millimeter units.
SoftMold allows you to create inch based components in a millimeter base
drawing or millimeter components in an inch based drawing. The first time
you used this function in any session the unit value of the active document
is retrieved and the function is setup based on the active documents units.
If you return to the function latter in the session the function is setup based
on the last values you selected. The function remembers where you where.
Select a Supplier
Click the Suppler List Control and select one of the suppliers listed
there. When you select a supplier the other controls are loaded
with the appropriate values.
Select the bushing type
Use the bushing type control to select the type of bushing to create.
Most suppliers offer these bushings in three styles, plain steel bushings,
bronze plated bushings and self lube bushings. The geometry of these bushings
is the same. The real difference is the catalog number, This will come into play
when the Bill of Material function is added.
Selecting a Bushing
You may select a bushing by one of two methods.
Method One
If you know the catalog number of the bushing you want to create you can select it using the
the catalog number control. When you select an item all of the other
controls and data display are set to the appropriate values.
Method Two
Select the nominal internal diameter of the bushing.
When you make a selection, the bushing length control is filled with the
available lengths for the selected size. Select the length of the bushing
from the length control. When you select an item all of the other controls
and data display are set to the appropriate values.
Select the Drawing Style
Use the drawing style list control and select one of the available drawing
styles. For details about the available drawing styles for
Straight Bushings, see
Straight Bushing Drawing Styles.
Pressing the 'OK' Button
At this point you have completed selecting a bushing and the drawing style
to use when creating the bushing. When you press the 'OK" button the dialog
window will close and KeyCreator's 'Position Menu' ( shown below ) will appear.
Use the Position Menu to select where to create the bushing. Each time you select
a position a bushing will be created at that position. Pressing the ESC key will
end the creation routine and return you to Keycreator.
